Gone are the days when a senior doctor was generally responsible for the role of a hospital manager. In today鈥檚 era of specialisation, many categories related to medical sciences and hospitals have been revamped completely. So, now we have the traditional hospitals, speciality hospitals and super speciality hospitals.

For the smooth functioning of a hospital, qualified professionals are required like a hospital administrator who is overall in charge of administrative affairs of the hospital. He takes over the charge of various aspects of health administration and hospital administration with respect to patients and health care.

You may have a Bachelor of Hospital Administration (BHA) or a Master of Hospital Administration (MHA) to become a professional administrator.

Courses are offered by the following institutions:

Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai

Symbiosis Centre of Health Care, Pune

Armed Forces Medical College, Pune,

Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai

Indian Institute of social Welfare and Management, Kolkata

Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad; and for distance education course -

Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi

Best of luck.
