Are you in the job you wanted when you were a kid?

Were you a kid that knew what you wanted to be when you grew up? I'm still trying to figure out what I want to be.

What job did you want as a kid and what are you doing now?|||sort of

one time when I was insane I wanted to be a lawyer

I got over it

now that I'm insane again I just work for one and I'm not even a paralegal I've just been here forever

one time I wanted to be a ballerina and live in new york i'm way far from that

one time I wanted to be an astronaut

one time I wanted to be a marine biologist

now I don't want to be here but right now my real job is a mommy and this place is the best to be for it now. I'd like to have a job where I felt like I made a difference in someones life like I helped someone.|||Lol, I wanted to be an astronaut.

I am a geographer.

But hey I like what I do.|||NO,

I wanted to be a cartoonist, or an Indy driver, But was discouraged by my parents on both of those,

Im a loan oficer now and its good work but not for me for much longer,|||I wanted to be a ballerina and an artist.

I am a graphic designer, and I love my job, even though it is very different than the glorified romantic version of being an artist that I held as a kid.

I did not become a ballerina. I found out it is much more than just showing up in a tutu...|||I wanted to work in a music store (sell musical inst) and I have been managing a pawnshop for most of my adult life. So I guess yes, I get to play alot of cool instruments and My personal collection of guitars has grown to over 100. So I guess my answer is yes|||Actually, I am. I think that most of the time the term doctor, lawyer, etc. or put into a child's head early on. When I was younger I wanted to become a teacher, and now I am a third grade teacher. Although, I am in grad school for counselor education I think that I am still fulfilling my childhood dream.|||The job/jobs I always wanted as a kid was to be a psychologist or work with animals. As I got older I still wanted to work with animals but also began to find my artistic side. I now at 36 am a Graphic Artist and have lots of pets. So I do not think most people do what they thought as a child.|||i don't have a job now........so i want my first job........anyway i am an engineer and when i was kid i wanted to be a doctor|||No I am currently not, but I'm working towards it... I want to be a Nurse and I start school in the fall for it now. :) currently I'm a paper pusher who destroys the rain forest with paperwork it seems... Good luck! :)|||No. In fact, I don't think I had dreams of being anything when I was a kid.

I'm a geophysicist in the oil industry now. I'm still not sure what I want to be but while I'm figuring it out, I'll swim around in those oil company profits.|||the job i wanted as a child was an accountant. in college i took accounting and that quicly changed. i am in sales and thet suits my personality more now. i was in the shadows of my twin brother growing up so when i moved away i developed my own personality. sales is my nitche and i'm really good at it. its not what i wanted as a kid but its what i want now. $$$$$$$$$!!!!!!!!!!|||I'm still a kid - if being a kid means being under 21 :) . It seems as if I've always wanted to be a physician and am still working towards that goal. Many people think that choosing a career is the same as finding the key to becoming financially successful, devoting the least amount of time and effort. While I'm not an expert in these matters, I believe that these people are misguided and base the rest of their lives on what is most convenient rather than what would give them the most satisfaction. Be honest to yourself and do whatever you think will make you happiest. Consider the different aspects of each potential job (required personality traits, average income, stress level, possibility of advancement, etc.) and weigh its advantages and disadvantages according to what's most important to you. How old are you? You probably still have time before you have to make a decision. In the meanwhile, discover your interests and don't worry, everything will fit together eventually.

Why should I give a company a two week notice If you wanted to leave a job?

A company can fire anytime they want if your not living up to their standards .|||so that replacement can be arranged, if your fired you probable crap at the job and so and extra two weeks would be dire!|||The reality is you don't have to but when you don't you are less likely to have a future good reference from this employer or boss. You'd be surprised how often you run across someone you worked with in the past as you continue your career. It is common courtesy and many times if you request you can get out earlier if your position is not mission critical. As you proceed in your career you will need references and companies will check with your past employers so it is best to stay with the flow. I hope this helps you understand the reason and your long term benefit. Good luck|||If you want a reference letter from your employer for your next job or you want to use this company as a working reference you should provide 2 weeks notice.|||Because it would be unfair to your coworkers to leave with no replacement. Also you may need to be employed there again. And finally you will loose benefits if you just leave.|||when looking for a new job they may call your previous employer as a reference, also its not always smart to burn bridges, who knows one day you may want (or need) to return. We are in a recession|||That is your option but if you have accrued any vacation and comp time you will not receive a check without 2 weeks notice.

Girls: What if your husband or boyfriend asked you if you wanted to get a boob job?

And he said he would pay for it and everything, would you be mad?|||As long as he's asking me if I want one, and not telling me I need one, I'd be OK with it. I would want to know why he asked, though.

%26gt;|||I had thought he might have asked me to make ME more happy than I already am. Even if we agree, your version still makes the husband sound selfish.

|||Husband- A slap and he has to sleep on the couch for a year

Boyfriend- A slap and a break up|||I'd be angry and I would definitely not get a boob job. I'm 15, a 32C and I'm perfectly fine.|||No, but considering my natural situation, I'd wonder if anything was medically wrong with him=)|||I would be gone. He would have already had to make himself clear that he was happy with them in the first place. so... I wouldn't let that happen.|||At least he would be trying to get a job.|||Yes, i'd be mad at him for suggesting it, as if he thinks i need one.|||I would be mad. Then I would go ninja on his a*s.|||He'd be out the door...|||I'd be mad... he has to be happy with the mosquito bites I have for boobs|||as long as its a reduction....|||My answer %26gt; .||.|||well he would never be seeing them again.|||nah, i'd be like hell yeah mofo

If you could snap your fingers and get any job in the world you wanted right now, what job would you pick?

Keep in mind, just because you get the job doesn't mean you won't get fired for incompetence.|||I would love to work for the SWAT team or FBI. I think it would be very interesting catching crooks!|||Stripper|||govenor general of australia|||THe boss of Disney|||Lawyer =D

And I would be damn good at it. I have plenty of family members to help if I need it ^_^|||A dog stylist|||CEO|||Porn Star|||I'm happy with the job I hold now.|||does the son of a billionaire count as a job?

Would you commute 1 hour each way for a job you REALLY wanted?

first of all, i've been looking for a job for 3 months.

i received a reply from a job that i want desperately. i've been trying to get into the veterinary feild for years and got a reply from a vet's office.

the only catch is that it's an hour away...so that would make it a 2 hour commute total.

the schedule is 4 - 10hr. shifts a week.

do you think that's worth it?|||Absolutely, it is worth it. It may seem daunting at first, but in the long run if it is something you truly want, you should do it.

Congratulations and good luck|||An hour really isnt that bad of a commute. It also depends on how much you are getting paid, and how much it costs to commute there.

If you are spending more than $40-$50 a week in gas, then it may not be worth it.

If you are taking public transportation, then it could be worth it, because it doesnt cost all that much.

It might help you out if you get the job, and then move closer to work.

I always live within a 10 minute drive of where I work....I hate commuting.

Once you get used to the commute, you wont even think about the time you are travelling.|||How much does it cost you to drive to work everyday. After gas in taken out of your paycheck, how much do you have left? Is this enough for bills and savings? If so, I would take the drive because its something I would absolutley enjoy. Then later you will have the experience to find something closer to home. Make sure this is reasonable financially though.|||depends how much it paid~it would have to pay for more than gas

I had to drive for field experience over an hour away~it wasn't too bad. I kind of find driving relaxing, so to answer your question, yes, I would.

If i had a lorry job in the UK and i wanted to travel the world, would it be possible to take my dog with me ?

Can it be done or not ? I don't mean stay there for long time e.g. I have to deliver in Belgium or somewhere close and say it would only take 2 days at the most ?? Thanks!|||If you can find a place to stay where they will allow dogs in Belgium then yes.

~ James

If i had a lorry job in the UK and i wanted to travel the world, would it be possible to take my dog with me ?

Can it be done or not ? I don't mean stay there for long time e.g. I have to deliver in Belgium or somewhere close and say it would only take 2 days at the most ?? Thanks!|||Only if your dog has all the necessary requirements for the Pet Passport Scheme

#|||Unfortunately animals crossing borders tends to be a big no no. Often times they must be kept in a crate under supervision for weeks at a time. Not to mention many shots.|||If you had a job as a lorry driver in the UK you would know the answer would be NO.

Sorry but there is no way you can transport a dog between the EU and UK without the dog having a pet passport - they take at least 6 months to obtain and your dog would have to be tested again before it comes back into the UK - so no sorry not possible in that scenario.|||i think you would be okay depending on where you want to bring him ... your dog would need a pet passport (can take up to 6 months to get one) but it would be good in europe ... belgium is included ... google pet travel scheme or pet passport for the rules and locations ..|||Apart from the passport issue.......you'll find that dogs are *not* allowed into the ports. And depending on what you are hauling......most employers do not allow dogs. My husband's an HGV driver and would love to take one of his dogs, but sadly he can't.....and he's not even going abroad, just going into the ports.

Where could i work if i was 15 and wanted a summer job in the tampa FL area?

i am going to be by tampa this summer and need a summer job. I have a life guard degree if that helps. but i am up to anything!|||TAMPA!?!?! its all bout the ATL!!!!

I wanted to know about job description of computer science.?

2.As businesses, consumers and government agencies continue to advance technologically, there is a growing demand for skilled computer science technology professionals to create new computer programs and solve complex business issues. In addition, computer science professionals also develop software programs that entertain and educate consumers. There are a variety of career paths available to computer science professionals due to the public's need for innovative software solutions.

Function

Computer scientists research and develop technology that addresses complicated business problems and scientific needs. However, these scientists also create computer chips, processors and hardware to speed up and improve the performance of existing software. Computer scientists develop video games, virtual reality programs and work with robotics to create machines that move and operate without human control. The function of computer scientists may differ depending on whether they work in academia, scientific organizations or corporations. Scientists working in universities may focus more on scientific theory, while computer science professionals in business organizations invent technology to generate profit.

Education

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), most computer science jobs in the United States require a Ph.D in computer science, computer engineering or major in a related field. Some federal government jobs will accept computer science professionals with just a bachelor's degree in a computer- or technology-related discipline. Coursework in a bachelor of computer science program should cover technical math, algorithms, software development, database management and computer science theory.

Skills

Professionals in the computer science technology field must think creatively and logically when creating software applications and other technologies. They must have excellent math, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills. Though computer scientists work independently, they must be able to work well with people and communicate with programmers, managers and other technical staff on a regular basis.

Job Titles

The computer science technology field is broad and offers a variety of roles for database administrators, computer scientists and analysts. Some of the job positions open to computer science technology professionals include applications developer, computer animator, information technology (IT) manager, systems analyst, web developer, computer programmer and computer engineer.

Salary

According to the BLS, the median salary for computer and information science professionals was $97,970 as of May 2008. Professionals in the lowest 10th percentile earned $57,480, and professionals in the highest 10th percentile earned $151,250.

Potential

The BLS projects that job prospects will be excellent for computer science professionals over the next decade. During the 2008 to 2018 decade, the number of jobs for computer science professionals is expected to grow by 24 percent. The BLS attributes this growth to the rapid expansion of software technology such as desktop publishing and information security. Engineering and computer science Ph.D. graduates will have the best job opportunities as current workers exit the sector or transition to other occupations.

Do you like your job? Is it what you wanted to do when you were younger?

Do you plan to change?

Or if you're at school, do you think you will get your dream job?|||I loved most of my jobs. Most of things I was interested in doing weren't open to girls, like the Navy or horticulture.

My father wouldn't let me go to College - he'd left school at 12 to become an apprentice butcher, then sold newspapers on the streets in the 1920's before going into the Navy as a "Boy Sailor" and he couldn't get his head around the idea of late education. He enrolled me on a course for shorthand and typing when I was 17 at the Bristol Aeroplane Company where they paid me to learn and sent me to do HND in Commerce at the local Tech. These skills were useful when I was working part time for an Agency while raising a family.

I became a PA at a Public School then went on to work for Social Services who sent me to College to become a Specialist Social Worker with older people and people with disabilities.

I finished my working life as a Care Manager in a General Hospital.

Every job I had was just an accident where I was in the right place at the right time. Most of the jobs I had never heard of when I was at school.|||i look after old people,it's not what i thought i'd be doing when i left school, but i love the job,i do plan a change though,i start a college course in two weeks and that's what i need to get into uni to do nursing.|||Im at school but i work at my dad's many pubs for extra cash, i dont mind it, i want to become a marine biologist, which wont happen because i suck at science, but if not that then i will be a chef, i love too cook.|||yes i love my job, i am a lawyer, and always wanted to be a lawyer as a child, and i worked hard at achieving my dream, and now i have achieved it, and are very proud of my accomplishments!|||heck no to both. I'm in property management. something I just kinda fell into. I want to own a restaurant.|||I love my job and it is exactly what I wanted to be.

I am a stay at home mom.|||Yes i always wanted to be Arch Bishop|||I got laid off, so this is a great opportunity for me to find what I really want to do. Instead of being chained to an office desk.|||im still in skool, i wanna become a doctor or a teacher|||Its ok but its not my dream job. But I like the people there and still find it interesting. Just abit stressful.|||I love my job. Its not what I dreamed of doing, but it is something that I enjoy and don't wake up everyday thinking "I don't want to go to work"

If I wanted to make cosplay clothes and props as a job/career, would I major in fashion?

Also, it is possible to have multiple careers right? Like, I could have a job as a chef, and a fashion designer, and maybe another thing..?|||Fashion design is related but what you're really talking about is costume construction and design in a theater department. It's very often an MFA (3 years after the bachelor's degree) program in colleges.

You could have as many careers as you want but there are only so many hours in a day and you'll need to find some way to make enough to eat.

Remember, just because you like doing something doesn't mean you have to make a job out of it. Plenty of people cook or make costumes as a hobby and have some sort of "real job" to be able to afford to do it.|||If you want to make cosplay clothing and props, you'd major in fashion design, yes.

Besides nursing what is the best degree to have if you wanted to move to Europe and get a job sponsorship?

I want to move to Europe and get citizenship. I am going to start school soon and would like some suggestions. I want to do accounting but I don't think it will help me move to Europe. I live in the u.s. right now and I can't study abroad because I can't afford it.|||In Norway, the best degrees to get sponsorship are healthcare (not just nursing), engineering (especially mechanical, petroleum and similar), practical sciences, some tech fields (highly skilled) and teaching if you are well-qualified in a subject (it helps to speak multiple languages). Any skilled work in the oil business can also get you a job, as well as project management if you are also trained in whatever field you want to work in. However, you couldn't get citizenship here without giving up your US citizenship (Norway doesn't allow dual citizenship). You can still live here permanently if you are able to get sponsorship with a stable job.

You can do other jobs around Europe, you just need to be very highly trained in a field that's lacking European workers. Specialist skills are important, but those vary by job. Most Americans I know that moved to Europe for work have careers in engineering and science, or were in a high position in their US company and transferred to an international branch. However, I've know a couple of people that moved in unexpected fields. One was a journalist for a major international news bureau, another was a graphic designer in a very specialised area. What set them apart is that they are truly at the top of their fields.

Accounting won't help you much, as far as I know. Norway has one of the better economies in Europe (low unemployment) and the newly-trained accountants I know here are having trouble finding work themselves. Some of them have switched fields due to lack of jobs/too many people in that area, thus I don't think you'll easily find sponsorship. Besides that, the financial systems vary greatly from country to country.

Language skills are incredibly important if you want the opportunity to move anywhere besides countries with English as a first language (like the UK and Ireland). Unemployment is high around Europe right now, and you won't be able to compete against native speakers of a language if you aren't able to communicate in anything but English. Even in the UK and Ireland, proficiency in other languages will help you find work.

A few countries like the UK offer self-sponsorship. Your degree doesn't matter so much as long as you can fulfill a points system. It's based on things like age and previous income (so you'd have to work a few years first). It does require a Master's degree though. If you meet the requirements, you can get a work permit that allows you to apply to jobs like a resident would. However, unemployment is high there as well, so you'd still have a better chance with degree that's in high demand.

What major should I take if I wanted a job in the UN, UNICEF and other international organizations?

Specific courses or the course's category would help a lot. :) thanks!%26lt;3|||It depends on the type of work you are searching for. Many get to work there with a degree or masters (preferably) in International relations..BUT:

it is better if you furnish your curriculum with more specializations..

myself for example am very much interested in working at the Un, or with the WHO or FAO..but am studying for a degree in pharmacy, after which i'l get a masters in pharm.tech..then a 3 yr course in international relations..that way ur curriculum is more attractive and considerable...one degree is no more enough these days..good luck dear|||International Relations.

If I wanted to apply for a job a the Augusta Masters 2010 how do I go about doing so?

I have worked in the pro shop at the masters before when I was in high school. Would love do it again. So if anybody knows of anywhere that is hirring for the Masters or at the Masters please let me know. Thank you!|||any jobs for that tournament were probably filled months ago

I've been working at a job since 1994 and wanted to know if I quit can i receive unemployment in CA?

I havent received a raise in 4 years. I only make 15 an hour and do the equivalent of 3 peoples jobs. he wont budge on a raise so if I quit can I collect unemployment. He is a small business.|||You can not collect unemployment if you quit a job!You need to get laid off or fired for no reason!$15.00 an hour count your blessings!!!!!!

Lady asked us if we wanted a summer job at hollister, will she actually call?

Yesterday me and my friend were at the mall in the food court and a girl in hollister clothes came up and asked us how old we were and if we wanted a summer job. Then she had us sign these little cards and we filled out the mall we were at, our name, and our phone number. Has anyone ever had this happen to them? I do want to work at hollister and I want to know if they will actually call and how long|||never ever heard of an employer going out

seeking employees that way.

Before you take another step, call the

general manager of the district for that company [if your area has such a high level] or at least the store manager and ask what their recruitment systems are........

IT could be real......new things occur all the time

This lady asked if I wanted to be her personal assistant. Should I take this job?

She offered to pay $400.00 weekly if I became her personal assistant. I am a mother of two and is really struggling at the moment. My husband is away( but he helps when he can). I just need some advice whether to take the job or reject. Does anyone have any solutions for me?|||Definitely ask her the contents of what your job will be, who she works for, what she does, and what exactly you will do. Sort out your options, and make a yes or no answer (:|||wel it depends if thats what you want to do i would take it because of the money but thats just me oh and you can find a good friend of yours to take care of your children|||If your kids are too young for school then find out how much daycare will cost. The new job might not be worth it.

..

I applied for a customer service job and they wanted a picture of me?

They said it was optional. So I sent my picture as well as cover letter %26amp; resume. Why do company's want pictures .Is this a good or bad thing. And should i of not sent my picture.|||It's customer service, love. The world likes pretty people. Pretty people make the world happy.

Who better to distract people from their customer service-related problems than the attractive people of the world?

Now if they wanted an inappropriate photo, that's something altogether different and i hope you didn't send that if they asked for it!|||Hi,

In my experience, a picture is usually asked for if you are going to be occasionally in contact with the public, a scary face will not help if you need to be a caring, helpful, hands-on member of staff (face tattoos being just one example) this is usually just to check that you fit in with the company ethos and can be smart and presentable (Useful if you are ambitious and want to end up running a department!) it is also good for you because it is better to find that you do not fit with the company before you are offered the position than 6 months into the job, where you find you hate all your colleagues and have to start job-hunting all over again.

They may also need the photo for your security ID card and it will save them time later if you are successful.

Don't worry about it, if they reject you at this stage just apply to other companies and keep at it, the job was not suitable for you anyway.

If you are offered an interview, good luck and make sure you are well prepared with great questions after thoroughly researching the company.

I wanted to apply for a job at Jamba Juice. I am unsure of the hours and how they work. Help?

I have looked everywhere for a listing of how Jamba Juice's hours work. It never said how many hours a team member is required or anything to help. Does anyone know? Thanks if you help!|||Typical retail is anywhere from 4-10 hours, depending on the time of day and the company's needs. I'd say 4, 6, or 8 hour shifts are the most common. It also depends on if you are a minor or not. Minors have restrictions (depending on age).

I just turned in my job application to Aeropostale and the manager asked me why I wanted to work there?

I couldnt think so i just told her i liked the store and their clothes fit a fat person like me. after i said it, i realized i shouldnt have said that cause it sounds like im insulting the store saying the clothes only fit fat people. Does anyone have a suggestion for what i should say next time i am asked this question at the next place i'll apply for?|||you should have expected that question, but if its your first interview thats understandable, i messed up to.

but dont count yourself out yet your answer wasent as bad as you think,

you said you like the store, generic answer that everyone will say but its still good

you made the answer more personal saying that the clothes fit you, also a good answer, saying that it fits a fat person is not a bad answer at all,

just next time focus on HOW you say something.

say something very specific about the store

and make it a little personal, about how you like the clothes fit YOU|||Tell them you are looking for a part time job or need money to pay for college tuition or something general like that. You dont have to be so serious because it's not a career job. Avoid saying words that might be offensive like retards or fat people those can cost you a job.

I wanted to know, what can I use to protect my paint job on my car from snow?

I have a nice red pearl paint job,but I do not have a garage, how can I protect it from the snow ? Is it any type of wax I should use ?

|||Dig this quickie guide if you need a helper. http://www.nascar.com/2007/auto/cct/12/11/car.care.winter.paint/

Personally I apply a few layers when I care for my car. Major step 1 that so many people overlook is to get it professionally washed at a gas station for maybe $7-$10. They do a really seriously nice job of removing all dirt etc. from your paint. Then I use Natty's Blue Carnauba wax for the shine, plus I've used it for many years so I trust them. Then I use the really important piece, the paint sealent on top of the wax using Natty's EXP paint sealent.

http://www.autogeek.net/nattys-blue.html

This should help explain the product a lil bit if your skeptical.

Hopefully this helps, it's what I do for my personal car, and for cars on a used auto lot I clean. Your paint job will last with this method very well. GL bruh. ^_^

|||A regular application of wax is the best way to protect your car from the elements. Rain, snow, road salt, pollution and the inevitable bird droppings can all compromise your car's thin finish.

In most cases, a single coat of wax will make your car look great and ensure it is properly protected from the elements.

However, for an exceptional shine, you may choose to apply a second coat of wax. Allow sufficient time for the wax to cure 鈥?usually 12 to 48 hours 鈥?between applications.

Natural waxes typically need to be reapplied every six to 10 weeks (depending on the type). Synthetic waxes will last six to nine months between applications.

|||always wax. turtle is good. be sure to get every inch even pop hood, trunk, and gas door. use a car cover and wash salt off often.|||Just a good wax. Actually the hot summer sun is harder on it than the snow.|||get a storage locker, OR get a car cover but i don't know how well it will stay on.

I wanted to be a sales associate but offered a cleaning job?

Should I refuse it or take it. PS I have a college degree.|||If it pays decent and there's room for advancement, give it a try. There's a plethora of job-seekers out there with good degrees who are having trouble getting work. It probably means they like you but don't have the position you want- that can come later.

It's like Harry Hartounian (played by Jackie Mason) said in 'The Jerk", people these days don't want to start at the bottom and work their way up, they want to start at the top and work their way sideways.|||Two schools of thought. An employer might see you are serious about being a good employee if you are willing to start at the bottom.

In this day and age, any job is better than nothing. You can always look for a better position while you collect a check to keep the wolf from the door. Good luck.|||Oh you poor thing,I would take it .do you job and leave

Help I became a victim who wanted to move up the career ladder and now I am out of a job.?

What are the best ways to find a new job in this economy?|||not shure how your desire 2 move up resulted in u losing ur job - generaly, a desire to move up is gud.

but, in a bad economy, u have 2 network, network, network 2 get ur name out there. also make shure ur cv is perfect with no spelling mistakes and like that. last be patient but optomistic - every body is having hard time nowdays but it will get better soon i think

good luck|||Begging seems to be a solid option.

Women if you got married would you quit your job if your husband wanted you to?

I once asked a friend's mother who stayed at home why and she said "because my husband wanted me to". Would you?|||It would depend on if i enjoyed my job

If i enjoyed what i did and my independence to earn from it

No i would,nt

Just because your married

Does not mean you do as your told to

He should respect your decision to do what you want ?|||I already do. ;)

I was pregnant when I got laid off, so he asked me if I'd just stay at home until after we were settled with the baby, and eventually we discussed if I should just be a stay at home mom. It was a mutual agreement that we're both extremely happy with.

If I went back to work and my husband asked me to quit again, I would. Call me old fashioned, but he wears the pants around here. ;)|||If you want a housewife, then there are 2 things you must know.

1) You have to afford a housewife, remember it will be a 1 income household.

2) Don't look for an American woman, they're too independent, find a foreign lady, they are much more traditional.|||Yup and I did it for 2 years. After that, I needed a job cuz we decided not to have kids and I was going insane home alone all the time. Lol. But I'd do it again if he specifically asked.|||We wouldn't be able to survive without my salary so he wouldn't do such a stupid thing as to suggest that I quit work.|||Heck yeah! I would quite my job in a second to stay home. I hate my job!!! I am interested in making a career change and wanted to know how to get a job as a Asst. Buyer?

My background is in Marketing and PR and I have a love for fashion. I currently reside in Southern California will I need to move to New York for this??? Any information would help.|||An Asst. Buyer position is still a marketing job so it would not be a major change. The decison to change careers involves a process you should be aware of. A mistake can be very painful and costly.

Here's a site that can help you make that decision. I do not have any business connection with this group but I always recommend them because they are very effective. The founder of this group is Richard Bolles, author of the best selling book, 'What Color is your Parachute?'

http://www.JobHuntersBible.com

Peace and blessings!|||New York isn't a necessary residence address. What you need to do is determine which company you wish to work for. This would usually be a headquarters position, so wherever the headquarters might be is where you'll end up.

If God wanted to appoint you as one of his avenging angels would you take the job?

If God asked you if you would be willing to go out and lay waste to all the workers of iniquity in his name would you take the job? He would divinely give you all the power you needed. You wouldn't have to worry about getting hurt yourself. All you would do is eat, sleep, and deal out pain. Kind of like Chuck Norris.|||God: well bob, I've been observing you on the field.

Bob: and?

God: I've decided to promote you from an archangel to an avenging angel.

Bob: like Tom cruise?

God: exactly. Of course, this will only be a test run to see how you do.

Bob: so who do I anihilate?

God: hmm, let's see. Oh, what about that guy on Y!A who speaks I'll of me?

I'm so thankful for Jesus and his love for me. This is something I can't change with any other.|||Yes it would be awesome.|||How cowardly would I be if I supported some doggish lies? Would a beard trimmer do a good job if I just wanted to give myself a crew cut?

I don't feel like dropping ALL of my cigarette money on a haircut!|||A crew cut is usually cut clipper over comb so a beard trimmer will work as long as it will hold a charge long enough to complete a haircut. I honestly don't think you are contemplating a crew cut but rather a butch, in which case a beard trimmer is a poor choice as the haircut will probably be all splotchy looking.

Some barbers describe an ivy league as a crew cut just long enough to be parted and combed to the side, if so desired. An ivy league can also be worn with the hair brushed up off the forehead to form the short pomp front, or with the short bangs brushed down on the forehead like a forward brush cut.g

What kind of jobs are available if you wanted to speak Chinese doing your job?

And im not just talking about like teachers or like free-lance translators, I'm asking about with businesses? and How would I like put myself out for those opportunities?

I appreciate any time and effort:)|||There are lots of companies in China that will hire you to do just about anything from accounting to biotechnology. Nearly all of them prefer someone that can speak chinese and english. Knowing the language will set you up for on of these jobs.

You could also find American companies that want to gain market share in China. You might advertise on sites like Alibaba.com and also to personally contact these companies.|||The one issue that I'm finding, honestly, is pay. If you go for a Chinese company in China, then your pay will only be slightly higher than the Chinese... and you may not get benefits. If you go for an American company in China, and you are highered in China, then you will also only get slightly higher than Chinese pay (case in point: Deloitte... I think they offer 9,000 RMB/ month to Americans highered in China with graduate degrees). If you're highered in China and you don't have much experience, you can expect 7,000-15,000 RMB/ month in Shaghai or Beijing. Not too good... The best option is to get highered by an American company in the U.S., then maybe get to use your Chinese. I personally found that they were not very willing to have me work with anything having to do with China. They were much more inclined to have me work in the U.S., and send someone who doesn't speak Chinese to China (go fig).

As for the jobs available, you can be a business consultant in China (there are tons of these jobs, but they don't necessarily pay well). You can work for a company like Deloitte. There are some journalism jobs, such as with Reuters. There are very few NGO jobs... some education consultant or education program jobs...|||Some shopping areas where there are huge number of Chinese visitors may need sales persons who are fluent with Chinese.

If I wanted to pursue a job as an acting or musical agent, what major should I focus on?

Follow up question: Where would be a good college or university to pursue that major?|||There are many universities that offer degree programs in artist/music management. If i got a job here and wanted to transfer to the UK on a work visa would i be able to or no?

for etc. if i got a job for a company that was in the UK here and wanted to move there would i be able to if it was kinda of a common job like lets say a wal-mart clerk but was going to stay there for long term and permanent u think i could or no?|||Having lived and worked in both places, I think the following is clear: firstly, in law you cannot take a job which people here could do. If you were a high up in an international company, then obviously you could. I actually taught the AOL guy from Greece English down in WSM. I worked in Texas for two years - but I was married to a Texan girls. But have no fear: in both countries there are millions of illegals. I just don't think the laws are being enforced at all. There are so many foreigners in both the USA and UK now you would not stand out. What sort of job you could get under those circumstances is open to doubt. Obviously 'proper' jobs would be closed to you. I had a colleague who worked undocumented in Boston for THREE YEARS!! My cleaner comes from Irkutsk in Siberia and she has been here seven years.

Personally, I would say you would be wasting time, and you would be better off staying closer to home and building a career. It's not all milk and honey when you go abroad. It can be dark, cold and lonely, and full of those bogeymen in flying saucers (gibber, gibber).|||You will not be able to do this. The UK Home Office made changes to their immigration laws in recent years. If you are an American you can't just arbitrarily go to the UK and apply for a work permit to get a job. Well, you could, but it will be denied. They have issues with unemployment for their own citizens in that country, and they will not allow foreigners to just come there and get visas to take jobs that their own citizens could be hired to do. It would have to be some highly specialized professional type job that none of their own citizens qualifies to do, and even in such a case your application would have to be sponsored by an employer.|||you need to get your tranfer first, then apply for British Work Visa. Once you have all your paperwork and guarantee that your job is secure then British Government will definitely issue you with work Permit Visa. if you are thinking of staying in UK Permanently then forget it as it is no longer possible.....|||I suppose this is the least of your worries but we call wal-mart asda

strangely enough i was wondering the same thing in reverse, if i got a job at asda and transfered over seas to america would that be possible ? Technically yes if my job at asda/wal-mart was in a specialised feild and asda/wal-mart would be willing to sponsor me (both highly unlikely but i wouldnt say impossible) your best bet is try to become of a citizen of any EU member country, that would give you the right to travel work and live anywhere in europe, spain may be easy for an american to become a citizen of for instance.|||If you want to stay indefinitely in the UK, almost certainly not. See the details onn the border and immigration web site for details of jobs which may allow you to stay longer, otherwise you may only stay temporarily.|||its no likely to happen

the uk now has a new points system

questions would be asked as to why the job was not filled by a person already here

How would you feel if your son/daughter wanted a nose job?

What would you do?|||I'm not a parent, but I'm a teen who does and will get a nose job as her graduationg present. When I was younger, my uncle was stupid enough to not pay attention to what he was doing. He was holding the carrier with me in it and then something either happened to the carrier or him and I fell out of it and fell flat on my face. My once little, tiny perky button nose is now huge, lumpy and I hate it.

I've been hating my nose ever since I was really little. It had nothing to do with anyone else's opinions on my nose, it was my own. I hated my nose. Also whenever I go in the water to swim or something, I have to use nose plugs. I remember when I was little and a swim instructor tried to help me swim without holding my nose and it was one of the most painful things even though I was told it wasn't supposed to hurt. I could just put my nose in the water for a couple seconds and the pain would start. My mom thinks it has to do with my sinuses.

I can't stand my nose, it's horrible. I've always disliked it and it has absolutely nothing to do with peer pressure. I talked to my mom about it. I told her how much I detested my nose and that when I was older and had money I was going to get a good plastic surgeon and get it fixed. You know what? She's okay with that. She's fully supporting me with it. She figures if I hate my nose that much yet I can go fix it, why should I go on for the rest of my life complaining and being miserable about it? She said that she might pay half or all of my surgery when I turn 18 and I graduate from high school. Which I'm cool with, I can wait. One of the big reasons is because of healing time and it will sort of be a fresh, confident start when I go to college.|||Well I would talk with them find out why they want one and are they 100% sure, let them know all the risks that are involved as well. It really depends on their age, any child under 18 I would say no way to. But if my child was over 18 and had the money then I would wish them good luck and hope its what they really want.|||If it were a major self esteem issue then I would get him one- just as I would get him braces if his teeth weren't straight. It's no big deal and if it helps him thats great.|||that blows. id assume the doctor nose best and i wouldnt sneeze at his advice, doctors aren't to be sniffed at. 'snot for me to decide how people deal with their insecurities.|||I wouldn't mind, it's their life...but at the back of my mind i'd give it a thought that their nose is half mine|||If it affected their self esteem then I'd let them get one.

I used to have HUGE breasts until I was 15 when my parents let me get a breast reduction. It affected my way of life and gave me so much more confidence.|||It depends on what their reasons were.

If they lacked confidence, lacked self-esteem, were getting bullied because of it then I may allow it (the severity of the issue would be considered).

If they were giving into peer-pressure or just thought it would help them fit in because "everyone's doing it" then I wouldn't allow it and try to stop them.

But that's my opinion and I'd have to consider the specific situation.|||Depends. If their nose was causing breathing or some other medical problem, I would pay for it. If was just because of cosmetic reasons, I wouldn't help them pay for it.|||I'd get the consultation from the plastic and find out how much it was. Then decide. Support your teen in what they want to do, but if it really isn't affordable or necessary, you will have to decide.|||I WOULD SAY NO!!! AS SIMPLE AS THAT|||No.. not the face. I just couldn't really support that because of all the risks. I could support lipo or breast implants or tummy tucks.. i mean at least you can cover the damage up with clothes until it gets fixed, if something goes wrong.

I would highly discourage them altering anything on their face, though.|||I wouldn't be for it.They wouldn't get it done, I'm not paying for it at all.I would help them feel better at their self esteem in a more positive way.

If I wanted to talk to someone about why my job makes me depressed would that be a career councilor?

A career counselor's role is to help determine the right kind of work for the individual. He or she helps the individual decide the appropriate field (e.g., sales, administration, manufacturing, etc.), industry, corporate culture, etc., best suiting the individual. The career counselor could very well help you to determine the occupation and situation which best suits your particular needs.

However, they generally are not true trained psychologists. If you are finding that you are truly depressed about your job or any other aspects of your life, I suggest you talk to someone with training in psychology. He or she can do a world of good in helping sort out some of these issues.

If someone offered me a job tomorrow and I wanted time to think about it?

Basically, if I was offered a job tomorrow, but wanted time to think about it, would the employer have the right to retract the offer if I was to not hand in my notice at my current job until I returned from a two week holiday. Do they have the right to insist I make a decision one day after the offer, and hand in my notice immediately?|||Of course they can retract the offer but most work places are reasonable and will understand some things take time. best to be honest with them. Next time it happens I woud mention you had a holiday booked at the point of interview.|||Yes no contract signed no job thats the way it is|||If the employer is that pushy, they may not be such a good person/company to work for.

If they demand a snap answer then you probably don't want to work for them anyways.|||Its a job - their job. They make the rules. If they need someone to start immediately and offer you the position, but you cannot take it immediately, they are perfectly well within the law to offer the position to the next candidate.

I would expect and appreciate full honesty from you, if I were the employer... If you want the position but cannot start for four weeks, then you should inform them of that. Tell them that you would like to give two weeks notice to your former employer, and that you would also like to assist in training your replacement, as you really respect your previous employer.... The new employer will see how dedicated and loyal an employee you are, and will be more likely to await your arrival!!

You can also do some research on the organizations in Indy and go straight to their websites. A lot of times the organizations will not post a listing elsewhere online, but will put it on their website instead. Successful professionals out there, how did you decide what job or area of work you wanted to be in?

I still have two years of high school left, but I've been (forced to) think about it more and more, I know what area of work I want to do, but how do I choose the college and specific job that is best for me? I'm grateful for any advice. :]|||I think taking a good look at your strength and interests is so big. For example, if you suck at math and science, it's probably best not to pursue a career in either of those fields (or let others--read: parents--attempt you to coerce you into them because that's what they want for you). Similarly, if you're good at math/science but hate them with the fire of a thousand suns, it's not a field for you. Your career one day should make your reasonably happy and provide some degree of security for you. For some people, it takes a long time to find what they love and are meant to do, so don't force yourself to stick with something if you find your interests changing.|||I always wanted to be an engineer. I can never remember a time when I did not want to design stuff. To apply science to create new and better things. I could not imagine life any other way. I am a certified nursing assistant now and I wanted to get a different job?

but I am not interested in nursing. Is there a career along the same lines that doesn't take much schooling that makes more money?|||You might be interested in jobs where you can still work in a hospital setting, just not with patients so much. There are unit secretaries, intake specialists, business office for records or billing, or maybe even dental assistant.|||if u want to make more money other than nursing job that would be difficult..the only option you have is to study/take another course like engineering related job or computer programmer..nursing job is already a high paying job bt if ur not interested then you have to take a risk and study|||CNA's get paid peanuts for cleaning up after patients. I don't blame you for disliking your job. Maybe you can move up the ladder to an LPN (1 year, better money) or an RN (2 years, great money). EMT's and paramedics require very little schooling too. You also have radiology and respiratory therapy (1-2 years).

If you want out of the medical field altogether, think about just getting a general associates degree at your community college, until you figure out what you really want to do.

If I wanted to get a job as an analyst what math should I take?

I am majoring in Economics and love market analysis, especially retail markets. I have the option of Math for Economists or taking the full calculus sequence. Which is better or does it not matter to the employer?|||You should consult your professor or a professional in the field to help you determine this. Don't guess, know for sure. Tell them your end-goal and see how they think each course relates to that goal. You can also talk to your school's career services department to see if they have any input. Keep in mind that they won't have the same level of detailed knowledge that a professor or someone who already has the job will.

You might also be able to get some guidance from job postings in the field that you want to work in. Do a Monster or Careerbuilder search and see what each posting calls for. If they have some specific coursework that is required, you'll know what to take. If not, see what specific types of experience they require and then compare those requirements to the course description for each class.

Once you go to apply for a job in the field, be sure to call out the parts of your education that have prepared you for that job. Courses like the one you are about to undertake might just give you an edge over the competition.

How did you decide on your major, did it help you find the job you wanted, and are you happy with your career?

I'm so afraid of going into a career I'll end up hating that I'll have to go back to college at the age of 40. Or even worse, that I'll be stuck in that career for the rest of my life. And yet, I'm 24 and still not out of college so it's like dammit I need to hurry the hell up.|||I picked Economics and International Relations as my majors for my degrees... and I like this because it allows me broad options. For example with economics I can work in the private sector or the public sector. I can work in policy or business etc etc. International relations is also a broad degree that has many possibilities. If you do accounting as a major then it's narrow and you pretty much know what you will end up doing...

I still feel worried that I will end up in a job or career I hate... but the reality is that unless you confine yourself to dentistry or accounting etc, your degree and experience will continously open up new doors into different fields and sub-fields. But did you know that alot of the times ur degree doesn't define your career path... for example, the ex minister of defense or something for australia had a Phd in the mating pattern of locusts!|||OMG, your question really hits close to home for me. I wish I had asked that question when I was your age.

I went into accounting a long time ago, and just last fall semester, I quit my job of 20 years to go back to school to take business management.

You're very smart to inquire about this before it's too late.

Have tattoos ever kept you from getting a job you really wanted?

I have 6 tattoos, two of them being half sleeves. I want to start sleeving my entire arms, but i've always been worried that it will effect what job I can get when I leave the Air Force. My civilian career field will most likely be in the aviation field (I have a BS in Professional Aeronautics, was an aircraft mechanic for three years, and have been an aircraft maintenance dispatcher/manager for three years). I'm looking for a white collar job much like the one i'm doing now (aircraft maintenance dispatching/management), so I figure I can always cover them with a long sleeve dress shirt. What do you think?|||no

never|||I've always had mixed emotions about this as well. I'm half sleeved on both forearms and got a few on my shoulders. I always wear a nice button up shirt with long sleeves so they are hidden. It shouldn't matter but you know as well as I do people see people like us and all they think is your a punk. Stereotypical as hell but thats life.

It's a form of expression. Don't question the thinking on it. He got them because he wanted them, not because he was trying to please every tom, dick, and harry out there in the world. Your in no goddamn position to sit there and say he should rethink.|||I think that if your job allows you to wear long sleeves then it can't keep you from getting a job. At this point in my life I think that I need to keep all my art cover-able, just to maintain a professional look. I have wondered the same thing. In your job position there isn't a lot of face to face time with the public (I am assuming) so...tattoos are becoming more and more acceptable, but there are instances when you gotta think twice.|||I have visible tattoos and I haven't ever had a problem with them prohibiting me from getting any job in my field (I do accounting/consulting). They are more accepted now days, but some people will still judge you if you are inked. Technically, if someone doesn't hire you because you are inked, its discrimination, but how can you prove it?|||Well I don't know about the military, especially since all the new regulation in the Marines which I imagine is coming to the Airforce as well. I did have problems with my tattoos and piercings, but I found when I covered them up for the first couple of weeks and people were able to see the quality of my work that it didn't matter if I let them show after that. Of course, they usually remained covered anyways, but the point is, once people get those first impressions of you, nothing else really matters.|||Yes I had keep from not having one for 11 years due my job at HBO Video this was the branch where films were kept and the marketing ideas were chosen. I fired more than 21 employees for having a tat. Policy was written on the App and you had to follow the rules. This was seven years ago|||Nope never effected my job and I am a principal and had my tats since before I started teaching.

As time goes on tattoos will be less of an issue. By the time I'm superintendent do you think I will care about tattoos or that others my age will have a problem with them as we take over the reighns of industry.|||Just get your tattoos removed and dont get any more. Its not smart to do anything permenant on your body. most people dont even find tattoos attractive and regret them after about 1 year.|||It can hinder you getting a job but just as long as you are honest with whom you are getting a job with and don't always try to hide them, you should be okay. I would also stay away from anything offensive!|||yeah dude..you answered your own question. long sleeve shirts in the workplace. as soon as you walk out the door and your on your time take that shirt off and have a nice wife beater on and go strut yo stuff..kidding ...seriously, as long as you wear a long sleeve shirt they won't know right? Right.|||It's fine if that's what you want to do. I have a full sleeve on one arm, and I have a white-collar job (software developer). The thing about it is, is that during the interview process, you wear long sleeve shirts anyway, so it's not going to prevent you from getting the job. Then once you're in, the worst that can happen is that the dress code at the firm will require you to keep them covered up.|||No, but then I don't have any tattoos|||Nope...I'm a chef I do what I want.

Would it be acceptable if Brett Favre wanted to compete for the job in Minnesota?

He goes through the whole training camp and competes for the starting job, its unfair to judge him off last year IMO. Unfortunately i think he will be a douche again when he try's to come back(he will i guarantee it I've said this the last 3 seasons and people say "oh he wont do it this time" HE WILL) a team like arizona could use him if the vikings don't accept him, or perhaps no one will take him but i do believe he will make some kind of attempt.|||i think that he really needs to proove himself, so if he wants it, then he's going to have to work for it. Some people would argue "he already has worked for it" but thats like saying you work your whole life for something like being a baseball player, and then when you get there, you stop working hard. No offense, like I pretend im a minnesotan because my dad was from there even though i was born in- (aha, you almost got me) lets just say another state, but I think it's time for him to go. If he tried out for another team, it would just be a slap in the face to all of the vikings fans and me IMO|||No, it would not be acceptable. Calling back also lets the employer know that you are also committed to getting the job. When you go in to fill out the application dress nice and be nice to everyone you meet!!! Sometimes the managers will ask people what they thought of you. Many places will hire you even if they don't have a sign up or even if they don't need help, if you make a good enough impression.|||I would apply at places you can work at not just places with help wanted signs

|||No your best bet is to go into every place you think you might want to work , hand in your resume that way even if they dont need someone right now they might consider you when they need someone. Cant tell you how long it will take, as it all depends
