A job prospect filled the position I always wanted. They said another would open soon. How long should I wait?

I started looking for my first job after college last Wednesday. I found the one I wanted since college the first day, and I stayed up all night researching the company and writing a cover letter. They then said...

Dear David,

Thank you for such a great letter and info on yourself, however, we have already filled this position. I will be needing more (of the position) in the upcoming year and will most certainly keep your resume and info on file. I wish you the very best and hope to be in touch in the near future.

Sincerely,

Ashley

I sent a letter of thanks for the consideration. My question is how long should I wait? I have until May before I graduate and I don't want to commit myself to another company if I can get this position in the near future. Can I postpon a job offer for a month or two?|||I would do something else until the job came along.Something temparly. Keep checking back with them. You don't want them to forget you. Not that you need to contact them alot. Maybe every few months. If they see your serious about it they will surly keep you in mind. Next time they need someone you'd be the first on the list.|||continue searching and delay start dates until you know for sure another position will be open. but rent is due in a month....
